There are months when you visit a city and others when, even if you stay for only a few days, you almost have the feeling of living there. September and October in Genoa definitely belong to the latter.
When we first started renting out our apartments in Genoa, we were convinced that the summer months would be the quietest. We assumed that, as happens in many Italian cities, July and August would bring a natural slowdown in city tourism, with most travellers choosing seaside resorts instead.
We were wrong.
We were wrong.
In Italy, we know this well: August is not simply a holiday month, it is the month when the entire country changes pace. Not everywhere in exactly the same way, but enough to become a recognisable phenomenon — and Genoa is no exception.
