Tourist Tax in Genoa
As in many Italian art cities, Genoa applies a Tourist Tax (Imposta di Soggiorno) to all guests staying in accommodation facilities such as hotels, B&Bs, and serviced apartments.
Who Must Pay It
The tax applies to all non-resident guests staying overnight in Genoa.
It is charged for a maximum of 8 consecutive nights — from the ninth night onward, no tax is due.
How Much You Pay
The amount varies depending on the type of accommodation, according to the most recent rates established by the Municipality of Genoa.
For tourist apartments and non-hotel accommodations, such as La Garaventa Serviced Apartments, the tax is charged per person, per night.
How to Pay
Payment is made directly at the property during your stay, following the agreed arrangements.
You will receive a personalised receipt confirming the payment.
The tax amount is not subject to VAT.

The proceeds are allocated by the Municipality of Genoa to initiatives aimed at supporting tourism and improving the city, including:
